Azemat Nahanghodrati Ghomghani

Azemat (Azem) Nahanghodrati Ghomghani, age 92, of Lowell, Arkansas, passed away peacefully on Friday, July 10, 2026.

Azemat was born on September 5, 1933, in Bandar Pahlavi, Iran, to Ghodrat Nahanghodrati and Masoumeh. After the loss of her mother at a very young age, she was lovingly raised by Roghieh Sharifi. She married Ali Ghomghani, and together they built a life centered on faith, family, and generosity. Ali preceded her in death on September 16, 2017.

She is survived by her loving children: Behrooz Ghomghani and wife, Nooshin, of Marietta, Georgia; Kambiz “Kam” Ghomghani and wife, Terri; and Hormoz Ghomghani of Northwest Arkansas.

She is also survived by her grandchildren: Misty Collins and husband, Jeff, of Northwest Arkansas, and their sons, Ethan and Blaine, Blaine’s wife, Minnie, and their sons, Kayson and Konnor; Heather Ghomghani Ronchetto and husband, Steve, of Northwest Arkansas, and their sons, Camden, Connor, and Brayden; and Nima Ghomghani and wife, Kasey, of Atlanta, Georgia, and their sons, Landon and Nolan.

She is also survived by her sister, Fayseh Nahanghodrati of Canada, along with many cherished relatives and dear friends in both the United States and Iran.

She was preceded in death by her parents and her beloved husband, Ali Ghomghani.

Azem had an extraordinary gift of hospitality and found great joy in opening her home to family and friends. If you left her table hungry, it was only because you chose to - she always prepared more than enough. Every gathering began with fresh fruit, followed by a delicious home-cooked Persian meal, her famous Bundt cake, and hot tea. Family eagerly anticipated the traditional dishes she and Ali would bring to gatherings, especially Chelo Kabobs and “green rice.”

A devoted homemaker for many years, Azem later fulfilled a personal goal of joining the workforce. She worked at Store 359, the Walmart on Mall Avenue in Fayetteville, from October 1999 until her retirement in April 2016. One of her greatest joys was earning her “own money,” which she delighted in spending on thoughtful gifts for family and friends. She also enjoyed watching game shows on television.

Above all, Azem will be remembered for her kindness, generosity, unwavering love for her family, and the warmth she shared with everyone who crossed her threshold. Her legacy lives on through the countless meals shared around her table, the traditions she passed down, and the love she poured into those around her.
