David Henry Massie

David Henry Massie, age 92, of Springdale, AR, went to be with his Lord and Savior on Tuesday, May 23, 2023. David was born on May 14, 1931, in Mountain Crest, AR, the son of the late Frank Massie and Sarah Jane (Stufflebean) Massie.

On November 22, 1957 David married Virginia Bumgarner and she preceded him in death on August 28, 2012. David worked for 10 years for Hegan Can and then went to work the Springdale Post Office and retired after 30 years, he also did income taxes for many years. David proudly served in the United States Army, the Army Reserves and the National Guard.

David was a member of Faith Assembly of God in Springdale, the American Legion, the VFW and the Lions Club. David owned many different rental properties and enjoyed working at many different projects. His greatest joy was spending time with his family.

David is survived by his son John Massie; daughters, Carol Massie and Marilyn Weilenman and husband James; a brother-in-law, whom David raised from the age of 13, Bob Bumgarner and wife Pauline, and another brother-in-law, Raymond Bumgarner; 2 grandchildren, Josiah Weilenman and wife Peyton, and Jamison Weilenman; a great grandchild, Emersyn Weilenman: along with many cousins, nieces and nephews.

David was preceded in death by his parents; wife; a brother Wayne Massie and a sister Virginia Stokenberry.

Friends may visit with the family at the Backstrom-Pyeatte Funeral Home in Springdale on Wednesday, May 31, 2023 from 5 – 7 PM. Funeral services for David will be held at the Faith Assembly of God in Springdale at 11:00 AM on Thursday, June 1, 2023. Burial will be held at 1:30 PM on Thursday, June 1, 2023 at the National Cemetery in Fayetteville, AR
