Gary Manning

Gary Manning, 69, of Chewey, Oklahoma passed away Wednesday night, February 23, 2022 at the Stilwell Nursing Home.

Gary was born April 19, 1952 in Tahlequah, Oklahoma to Jesse and Emma (Mounce) Manning. He was an outdoorsman at heart. He enjoyed hunting, fishing, spending time on the Illinois River, playing Dominoes with the Cheweyville crew, hunting for mushrooms, drawing, playing softball for Oaks, and was a classic car enthusiast. He was always there to share a good laugh with family and friends as well as lend his support to those who needed it. He was proud of his Cherokee heritage and enjoyed making bow and arrow sets. He was a member of the Illinois River Baptist Church where he served the Lord and his church in many capacities.

He is survived by his 4 brothers, Harold Morris of Kansas City, KS., James Manning and wife Faye of Chance, OK., Carl Manning of Chance, OK., and John Manning of Chance, OK; 2 sons, Justin Manning and wife, Shana of Siloam Springs, AR. and Jarrod Manning and wife, Shawna of Chewey, OK; daughter, Abby McLemore and husband, Tim of Chewey, OK; close friend and mother of kids, Eva Manning of Chewey, OK; 11 grandchildren; 5 great-grandchildren; numerous nieces and nephews; cousins; and many other family and friends.

He was preceded in death by his parents; 3 sisters, Eufama Ward, Coweta Sharp, and Louella James.

The visitation for Gary will be held 5:00pm-8:00pm on Monday, February 28, 2022 at Backstrom-Pyeatte Funeral Home of Siloam Springs, AR.

The funeral service will be 2:00pm, Tuesday, March 1, 2022 at the Illinois River Baptist Church in Chewey, OK. Pastor James Wilkerson and Bro Leo Bird will officiate the service. Burial will follow at New Hope Cemetery in Chance, OK.
