Helen J Bynum

Helen Joan Bynum passed on August 20, 2025 in Springdale. Helen was born in Locust Grove, Oklahoma to Merrell and Earl Warder on February 23, 1936.

After graduating from Locust Grove High School, she married Paul Bynum on August 12, 1955. They were married for almost 68 years before Paul’s passing in 2023. They had two children, Paul Jr. and Randall.

In 1974, Helen was co-founder and co-owner of Bynum Home Furnishings in Siloam Springs with Paul, a business they ran together for several years.

Helen was a star basketball player in high school and was an avid Razorback basketball and football fan. She and Paul attended almost every home Razorback basketball game for many years.

Helen was very involved with her sorority, Beta Sigma Phi, and was a member of First Baptist Church in Siloam Springs and the Eastern Star.

She was preceded in death by her husband Paul, her son Paul Jr., her parents and her sister Wanda Perkins.

Helen is survived by her son Randall Bynum and grandchildren Olivia (Nelson) McCain, Brooks (Haylee) Bynum, Barrett Bynum, two great-grandsons Ford McCain and Lawson Bynum, and her sisters Earline Day and Katherine Mauldin.

Funeral service will be at 2 p.m., Monday, August 25, 2025 at the Backstrom-Pyeatte Funeral Home Chapel in Siloam Springs with burial at Oak Hill Cemetery.

Visitation will be held on Sunday, August 24, 2025 from 5-7 p.m. at Backstrom-Pyeatte Funeral Home.
