James Edward Calvert

James Edward Calvert, 87, of Kansas, Oklahoma passed away on Wednesday, May 15, 2019 surrounded by his loved ones.

Mr. Calvert was born on September 16, 1931 in Hohenwald, TN; he was the son of Bartie and Mary Calvert. He married the love of his life, Aileen on March 20, 1954 in Carenth, MS and they shared a loving marriage until her passing in 2012. James enjoyed listening to gospel singing, traveling, eating catfish with beans and cornbread, he loved spending time with his family; but most of all, he cherished going to church.

He is survived by his 7 children, James Calvert & wife Elizabeth of Tahlequah, OK., JoAnn Calvert, & husband Pedro Soto of Easley, SC., Thomas Calvert of Siloam Springs, AR., Norma Jones of Tulsa, OK., Steven Calvert & wife Janice of Siloam Springs, AR., Jimmy Dale Calvert & wife, Brandy of Kansas, OK., and Doug Calvert & wife Rhonda of Siloam Springs, AR; 2 brothers, Harold Calvert & wife Pat of Colcord, OK and John Calvert & wife Loretta of Watts, OK; 31 grandchildren, and 27 great-grandchildren.

James was preceded in death by his parents; his siblings, Bessie, Juanita, William, Roy, Ann, and Kathy; and 2 granddaughters, Laura and Rori.

The funeral service will be held at the Gospel Lighthouse Church in Kansas, OK on Monday, May 20, 2019 at 1:00pm. Pastor Sam Andrews and Pastor Jesse Glass will officiate the service. Burial will be held at the Kansas Cemetery in Kansas, OK under the direction of Backstrom-Pyeatte Funeral Home of Siloam Springs, AR.
