James Benton Skordal

James “Jim”  Benton Skordal, 68, of Fayetteville, AR, passed away on Monday, December 4, 2023. Jim was born on March 1, 1955, in Pontiac, Illinois to the late Henry B. Skordal and Claudia L. (Dandliker) Skordal.

Jim was always up for an adventure and his career provided just that! After graduating with an associate degree from Clatsop Community College in Astoria, OR, Jim moved to Shreveport, LA, and worked for Core Laboratories. In the early ’80s, Jim moved back home to Springdale, AR, and worked in various positions until settling with the City of Fayetteville, Parks & Recreation department. Most recently, Jim spent the last 15 years working as a security officer for the Allied Universal Security Service. He was most recently contracted with Tyson Foods.

When Jim wasn’t working, he spent his time doing what he loved, fishing, hunting, and calling the Hogs. Jim was an avid duck hunter and fly fisherman and loved exploring the outdoors with his boys. However, his deepest outdoor love was the ocean. Jim loved to spend as much time as he could with his feet in the sand. His love for the ocean took him around the world to beaches in both South America and Costa Rica. However, his most frequented beach spot was Gulf Shores, AL. When on the Gulf, Jim could be spotted with his neon shorts, Bud Light, and listening to his favorite beach vocalist, Lisa Christian.

Jim is survived and deeply missed by his sons, Trace Skordal, and his wife Jessica; Bryce Skordal, and his wife Jenna; his sisters, Sharon Tulli and Rochelle Bruce; best friend, Katherine Skordal, and grandchildren, Macy, Jackson, Dawson, and Waylon.

Jim was preceded in death by his parents.

Jim was very clear that a traditional funeral was not for him. Therefore, his family will celebrate in true Jim style! Please join us on Saturday, December 16, 2023, from 3-6 pm at the Talbert Family Farm, 12915 Buddy Elkins Road, Farmington, AR 72730 for a Celebration of Life.
