Kennard Lee Sims

Kennard Lee Sims, 93, of Springdale, Arkansas, passed away on Sunday, February 22, 2026.

He was born on April 25, 1932, in the Harmon Community of Arkansas, the son of the late Toy Sims and Rosa (Brown) Sims. On February 26, 1956, he married the love of his life, Betty Ruth (Matteson) Sims, in Springdale, Arkansas. She preceded him in death.

Kennard proudly served his country in the United States Army. He was a devoted and faithful member of Berry Street Baptist Church for approximately 70 years. Following more than 30 years of dedicated service with Beaver Water District, Kennard retired. In his later years, he enjoyed listening to his police scanner and was an avid reader.

He is survived by his daughter, Angela Jennings and husband, Scott; his sisters, Sharon McGuire and Nancy Mallet; his grandchildren, Thomas Strachan, Tiffany Curry and husband Michael, Victoria Jennings and husband Casey Eckhart, and BriAnne Vaughn and husband Aaron; along with numerous great-grandchildren, nieces, nephews, and cousins.

Kennard was preceded in death by his parents; his wife, Betty; and his brother, Larry Sims.

Services will be held at Berry Street Baptist Church, 320 Berry Street, Springdale, Arkansas. Friends may visit with the family from 10:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m., with funeral services beginning at 12:00 p.m. Interment will follow at Elm Springs Cemetery.
