Leon Rose

Leon Rose, 83, of Hiwasse, Arkansas passed away Thursday, July 16, 2026, at the Circle of Life Hospice House in Bentonville.

Leon was born on March 9, 1943, in Scott City, Kansas. He was the son of Edgar and Margarite Rose. He married Sharon Howerton on November 28, 1974, in Springdale, Arkansas.

Leon loved his family, horses, dairying, and ranching. He owned property in Missouri, Arkansas and Oklahoma. When he was not working, he loved Beaver Lake and water skiing and owned one of the first jet boats on Beaver Lake. He was also one of the first to use no-till in his pastures where he planted acres of Bermuda grass. Leon especially enjoyed helping others.

Leon was preceded in death by his parents and one son, Danney Rose.

He is survived by his wife of fifty one years, Sharon Rose of the home; one son, Bryan Rose and wife Terri of Hiwasse; four sisters, Ann Bolyard and late husband Frank of Cave Springs, Dona Barnett and late husband Jerry of Harmon, Arkansas, Virgie Beamer and late husband Bill of Afton, Oklahoma and Kay McCitty and husband Scott of Springdale; one brother, Rex Rose and wife Marian of Salina, Oklahoma; six grandchildren, Quinton Rose and wife Rachel of Colorado, Danielle Van Antwerp and husband Eric of Oklahoma, Noah Williams of Hiwasse, Ryley Williams of Hiwasse, Zane Williams and wife Parker of Bentonville and Brooklyn Rose of Hiwasse; three great grandchildren, Max and Tempie Van Antwerp of Oklahoma and Slade Williams of Bentonville; along with many other family members and friends.

Visitation will be held at the Backstrom-Pyeatte Funeral Home on Monday, July 20, 2026, from 5:00pm to 7:00pm.

Graveside services will be conducted at the Elm Springs Cemetery on Tuesday, July 21, 2026, at 1:00pm. Pastor Eric Howerton will officiate the services.
