Marcella D Upton

Marcella Dean Upton, 95, of Siloam Springs, Arkansas passed away Friday, February 23, 2024, at the Siloam Springs Health and Rehab Center.

Marcella was born on August 12, 1928, in Siloam Springs. She was the daughter of Charles Everet Mason and Gladys J. Litfiy Mason. She married William Thomas “Tom” Upton on September 23, 1945, in Nogales, Mexico.

Marcella was known for her kind heart, love for her family and helping others. She dedicated her life to her husband, Tom, and to her children. She and Tom owned and operated the Universal Roofers and Remodelers Company in Phoenix, Arizona. While running the company, they created a patent on Uni-cap Roof coating. They retired in the late 60’s and moved back to her hometown of Siloam Springs in 1970. She loved to bake, sew, quilt, crochet, paint and make jewelry.

She is preceded in death by her husband, Tom; one son, William Thomas Upton II; two daughters, Kay Ann Kvetko and Deborah Tubbs; and a son in law, Donald Koons.

She is survived by one daughter, Sharron Koons and partner Ancil Mullins of Siloam Springs; one brother, Sonny Mason of Kansas City, Missouri; grandchildren, William Taylor of Bentonville, MarDean Perdue and husband Larry of Rose, Oklahoma, David Taylor of Bentonville, Deanna Hames of West Siloam Springs, Oklahoma, Regina Cruzan of Siloam Springs, Don Koons of Phoenix, Arizona, Rhonda Taylor of Watts, Oklahoma, Lesa Rissler and husband John of Siloam Springs, Bryant Mullins and wife Megan of SIloam Springs, and Stacee Capps and husband Jamie of Colcord, Oklahoma; 26 great grandchildren and 61 great great grandchildren.

A visitation will be held at the Backstrom-Pyeatte Funeral  Home on Wednesday, March 6, 2024 from 12:00pm to 2:00pm.

Funeral Service will be held following the visitation at the Backstrom-Pyeatte Funeral  Chapel on Wednesday, March 6, 2024, at 2:00pm. Pastor Wes Flaugh will officiate the service with burial being held at the Johnson Cemetery in West Siloam Springs. The arrangements were entrusted to Backstrom-Pyeatte Funeral Home of Siloam Springs, AR.
