Maria Arriaza

May 18, 1929 — March 9, 2018

Surrounded by her family, Maria Arriaza went to be with her Lord on March 9, 2018.  Born on May 18, 1929 in Quillem, Chile to Franz and Emma Schubert, Maria married Raul Arriaza in 1950.  Together with their two sons, they moved to the United States from Santiago, Chile in 1972.  Maria worked as a homemaker and was self-employed.

Maria is survived by her sister, Elsa Schubert; her sons, Andres, his wife Karen; and Daniel Arriaza; three granddaughters, one great-granddaughter, five nephews and four nieces.  Maria is preceded in death by her husband, Raul Arriaza; parents, Franz and Emma Schubert; and her brothers, Martin, Ernesto, Bernardo.

She loved spending time with family and friends, flowers, bird watching and gardening. She enjoyed cooking for those around her and no one left hungry. With her unassuming nature, she never forced her opinion, but rather found opportunities to provide prayerful guidance. She gave without expectations and made such a difference in our lives. You are sorely missed.

Graveside service will be held 10:00am on Friday, March 16, 2018 at the Bluff Cemetery in Springdale. A reception will follow afterwards at noon.  Pastor Tommy Gautier will officiate the service.  To sign the online guest book please visit www.backstrom-pyeatte.com.
