Martin James “Jim” Reed, 75, of Siloam Springs, Arkansas passed away peacefully Thursday, July 24, 2025.
Jim was born March 28,1950 in Merced, California to Stallard Reed and Mable Packer-Reed. From a young age, he found peace in the outdoors, camping under the stars, hiking the trails, and soaking in the beauty of the California mountains. He enjoyed the stillness, the fresh air, and the quality time he spent with family and friends in nature.
He had a soft spot for any old Western-whether it was a dusty trail ride or a cowboy showdown, those were his kind of stories. He appreciated the simple grit and honor they carried, and maybe he saw a bit of himself in those old-time cowboys- hardworking, loyal, and kind-hearted.
More than anything, he was a Godly man. His faith was steady, his heart was kind, and he lived his life with quiet integrity. He was a faithful member of Victory Assembly in Siloam Springs, Arkansas. He was well-loved by all who knew him for his sweet disposition and ornery sense of humor.
He is survived by his beloved wife, Ruth Reed; 4 children, Becky Burgess and husband, David, Steven Reed-Crawford and wife, Julie, Julie Reed, and Jimmy Reed; 3 siblings, Betty Reed, Ronnie Reed, and Ellen Langston; 8 grandchildren, Haylee Carrell (Jared), Jake Burgess (MaKayla), Hannah Blackketter (Luke), Leah Burgess, Mac Crawford, Emaly Epson (Corey), Lillian Travao, Brenden Travao, and Kahliah Reed; and 3 great-grandchildren, Cody Burgess, Sutton Rose Carrell, and Levi Blackketter.
Preceded in death by his parents, his daughter Jeanetta Reed, siblings Virginia Wyant, Alice Mayfield, Lorne Reed, June Miller and Phyllis Hall, and his first wife, Barbara Rose.
The funeral service to honor Jim’s life will take place at 11:00AM, Thursday, July 31, 2025 at Victory Assembly in Siloam Springs, Arkansas. Brother Carl Clark will officiate the service with burial following at Oak Hill Cemetery.
The family kindly requests that any floral arrangements be ordered through Siloam Flowers and Gifts.
Pallbearers will be David Burgess, Jake Burgess, Mac Crawford, Mike Wyant, Perry Mayfield, and Clifford Mayfield.
The arrangements were entrusted to Backstrom-Pyeatte Funeral Home of Siloam Springs, AR. To sign the online guestbook, please visit www.backstrom-pyeatte.com.
