Matthew W Harviel

Matthew Warren Harviel, 30, of Siloam Springs passed away at his home on September 16, 2026.

Matthew was born on March 15, 1996, in Oklahoma City, Oklahoma. He is the son of Trent and Diana Harviel and brother to Nic. He married the love of his life Audrey DeLeuil on January 27, 2022, in Eureka Springs, Arkansas, and together they created a home full of love and laughter with their two daughters, Paisleigh and Peyton.

As a young man, Matthew’s lifetime dream was to serve in the military and become a police officer. He achieved just that. Matthew served honorably in the U.S. Army, then graduated from the Memphis Police Academy where he completed his rookie year prior to moving to Northwest Arkansas. Once in Northwest Arkansas, he served in various law enforcement roles. At the time of his passing, Matthew worked as a dispatcher for the Fayetteville Veterans Administration while also attending American National University as a Radiologic Technology student.

Matthew was a K9 Handler for the Gentry Police Department, where he and his dog, Harry, worked side by side. When Harry retired, Matthew adopted him and from then on the two were inseparable. Harry became more than just a companion to Matthew. The family considered the pair soulmates.

Matthew was happiest with something in his hands. He enjoyed working on cars and collaborating with Audrey on never-ending renovation projects around the house. He took great pride in his work, and no project was ever complete until it reached his level of perfection, which was almost unattainable.

Matthew was truly an old soul; he was the provider and protector of his household. A role that he took very seriously. Matthew made sure all three of his girls were safe and cared for; he did it with a steadiness that came naturally. That sense of duty showed up in Matthew’s service to his country and community; however, it mattered most to him at home. He showed up every day for the people who counted on him and rarely asked for anything in return.

Matthew carried more than people knew. He struggled quietly, and in the end that struggle took him from us. I share that clearly because I believe that silence helps no one. Matthew was preceded in death by his beloved grandfather, “Grampy” Warren Davis and grandfather-in-law James Hallum.

He is survived by his wife, “Birdy” Audrey Harviel; his daughters, “Buggy” Paisleigh and “Possum” Peyton Harviel; his loyal companion, Harry; his parents, Trent and “Goose” Diana Davis Harviel of Germantown, Tennessee; his brother, “Nic” Shelton Nicholas Harviel of Germantown, Tennessee; his uncle, Warren J. Davis and wife Tammy of Germantown, Tennessee; his maternal grandmother, Josephina Davis of Germantown, Tennessee; his father- and mother-in-law, Michael and Celeste DeLeuil of Atkins, Arkansas; his sister-in-law, Isabella DeLeuil of Dardanelle, Arkansas; his brother-in-law “Jaime” James DeLeuil of Atkins, Arkansas; his grandmother-in-law, Marilyn Hallum of Atkins, Arkansas; and a host of other friends and family.

A memorial service and burial of cremains will be held at the National Cemetery in Memphis, Tennessee at a later date to be announced.
