Pete John Sbanotto, 77, passed away peacefully March 28, 2026, at Circle of Life Hospice in Springdale.
He was born in Fayetteville in July of 1948 to Harry and Dorothy Sbanotto of Tontitown who proceeded him in death, along with his oldest son, Michael, who passed way in 2009. Pete is survived by one older sister, Betty Rolniak, and five younger brothers, Harry Jr., Tony, Dennis, David, and Bob, and his wife of 55 years Elaine Mussino of Tontitown, son Stephen and partner Alex, who live in Denver, CO.
Pete was Baptized, made his First Communion, was Confirmed, and Married in St. Joseph parish. He attended Tontitown public school from 1st through 8th grade, a public school under the guidance of the Springdale school system but taught by Sisters of Mercy nuns. Growing up, he attended mass daily before school hours and studied Catechism after normal school hours and was very active as an altar boy from 3rd through 8th grade. Later in life he was a Member (inactive) of Knights of Columbus Father Bandini council 4538.
Pete most recently served as church lector, helped count the collections, and worked at the annual Tontitown Grape Festival.
Pete worked for Simmons Foods, Siloam Springs for 19.5 years and then for Cobb Vantress, Siloam Springs for 20 years, 9 months, and 3 days! Through his career he had the opportunity to travel to 37 countries.
Elaine and Stephen want to personally thank the Doctors, Nurses, and staff at Washington Regional in Fayetteville, Arkansas for their outstanding care and personal attention they gave us for the three weeks we were there. You are all amazing. We also want to thank the Staff at Circle of Life Hospice in Springdale, Arkansas. You truly got us through the night. God Bless you all!
Visitation will be held at the St. Joseph’s Catholic Church on Tuesday, March 31, 2026, from 5:00pm to 6:00pm. Rosary will follow at 6pm.
Funeral Mass will be held at the St. Joseph’s Catholic Church on Wednesday, April 1, 2026, at 10:00am.
In lieu of flowers, Elaine and Stephen request donations be made to the St. Joseph’s Tontitown Food Pantry.
