Ronald Silbernagel

June 1, 1951 — February 19, 2023

 

All pain and grief is over,

Every restless tossing passed;

I am now at peace forever,

Safely Home at last.

 

Ronald Silbernagel was born on June 1, 1951 in Eureka SD to Frank and Anna (Schaffner) Silbernagel. He grew up and attended school in Zeeland ND. He married Janet Bauer, daughter of Jacob C. and Edna Bauer, on May 26, 1973. They’ve lived in West Fargo ND, Fargo ND, Barnesville MN where he fulfilled his dream of having a hobby farm, then moved back to West Fargo until close to retirement when they moved to Siloam Springs AR. He is a veteran of the North Dakota Army National Guard, serving from 1969 to 1975. He had a 46 year career in heavy duty truck part sales were his personal touch created many lasting relationships. Over those years he worked for Cummins, CATCO, and Wallwork Truck Center.

During retirement, Ron restarted his hobby farm raising goats, chickens, ducks, cows, and even a donkey. He filled his time by fishing, fixing tractors, gardening, baking bread, and going camping. He also enjoyed spending time with both sets of neighbors, especial playing pool with Barry and teaching the Costillo’s grandkids about working a hobby farm.

He is survived by his wife, Janet and son, Ben Silbernagel of Siloam Springs AR, daughter JaNell (Adam) Carpenter of Horace ND, and stepgranddaughter Bailey Carpenter of Fargo ND. Seven brothers: Frank (Dorothy) Silbernagel of Kent WA, Dan (Jackie) Silbernagel of Bismarck ND, Joe (Phyllis) Silbernagel of Bismarck, ND, Leo (Gloria) Silbernagel of Fargo ND, Larry (Kathy) Silbernagel of Bismarck ND, Dave (Renae) Silbernagel of Zeeland ND, and Quentin (Keri) Silbernagel of Spanaway WA. Seven sisters: MaryAnn (Bob) Volk of Herreid SD, Jane (Tim) Heier of Hague ND, Betty (Tom) Brandner of Heber City UT, Angie (Randy) Levi of Hettinger ND, Bernie (Dave) Levi of Bismarck ND, Rita (John) Pfeifer of Boise ID, and Sue (Wayne) Materi of Paysen AZ. In-laws: Karen (Dennis) Hughes of Austin TX, Joyce (Duane) Kilber of Mesa AZ, and Jaci (Hal) Michel of Larkspur CO. Ron is also survived by 195+ nephews and nieces.

Ron was preceded in death by his father and mother, Frank Silbernagel and Anna Nolz; his brother Tony Silbernagel; his stepfather Leo Nolz; In-laws: Betty Silbernagel, Elaine Silbernagel, Jacob C. Bauer, Dennis Hughes, Edna Bauer, Tim Heier, and Duane Kilber.

 

Services will be conducted by Sannes Feist Family Funeral Home in Linton, North Dakota with burial being conducted in the Zion Evangelical Lutheran Cemetery in Zeeland, North Dakota.
