Goldia Mae Chastain Mobbs, age 98, was born October 13, 1922 and went to meet her Lord and Savior on March 27th, 2021 from Circle of Life Hospice House in Bentonville, Arkansas.
She is survived by four sons, Art Bowden and wife Naomi of Livingston, Texas, Roy Bowden and wife Brenda of Bakersfield, California, Gerald Bowden of Wyandotte, Oklahoma, Carl Roger Bowden and wife Reba of Fresno, California, One daughter Patricia Ferguson and husband Bill of Bella Vista, Arkansas, One step son Royce Mobbs and wife Betty of Flower Mound, Texas, One brother Troyce Chastain and wife Wilma of Surprise, Arizona, 28 grandchildren, and whole big bunch of great grandchildren, and great great grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Arthur Burton and Francis Elizabeth Chastain, one son Kenneth Wayne Bowden, husband Oscar Roy Mobbs, two brothers Roy Eugene and Doyce Harold Chastain, and one sister Mary Nadine Daniel.
Growing up in Oppelo, Arkansas, the oldest of 6 children, Goldia helped with the younger ones, helped on the farm, plowed with a team of mules and picked cotton. In school, she really enjoyed playing basketball and would tell you that she was a “good” point guard. She married young and became a wonderful mother and grandmother. Goldia had dancing in her feet and was always ready to get up and show you her little jig. She also loved to sing. Through the years that she lived in California, she worked in a canning factory and as a cook in 2 different nursing homes. After retiring and moving back to Arkansas in 1977, she did care giving and took in ironing.
In her senior years, she loved baking, especially pies and cookies and peanut brittle and loved sharing them with family and friends. She was always faithful to her church and became Grandma to most everyone. Goldia loved her Lord Jesus and her family with all her heart.
