William “Tom” Thomas Upton, 91, of Siloam Springs, Arkansas, passed away Sunday, July 19, 2020 at the Waters of Rogers Care Facility.
Tom was born on January 21, 1929 in Xenia, Ohio. He was the son of George Henry Upton and Margaret Snowflake Huddle Long Upton. The family moved to Phoenix, Arizona when Tom was 14 years old. He married Marcella Dean Mason in 1945 in Nogales, New Mexico, celebrating almost 75 years of marriage. Tom joined the U.S. Coast Guard during WW II and was station in Almeda, California protecting the nation’s coast. He became a roofer after the war and eventually owned his own roofing company. He and Marcella moved to Siloam Springs in 1970. He played golf in his younger years and become an accomplished silversmith making Indian jewelry.
He was preceded in death by one son, William Tom Upton Jr. and one daughter Kay Kvetko.
He is survived by his wife Marcella Upton of the home; two daughters, Sharron Koons and Debbie Tubbs both of Siloam Springs; his brother Tom Francis Upton of Phoenix, Arizona and a brother in law, Charles Issac Mason of Kansas City, Missouri; eleven grandchildren and numerous great grandchildren and great great grandchildren.
